It happened. We did get rain as the TV weather guys announced. As I sat by my front window late afternoon yesterday There were threatening clouds to the south. I’ve often been surprised that such phenomena does not necessarily mean that it is going to rain. It almost always meant rain as I was growing up in West Virginia. This time, it did, and according to the weather channel we got .14 inches yesterday. This will make a total this year of 3.09 for the year in Billings. My relatives in the East and in Texas will not think that is very much, but to the farmers in this area it is a “Godsend”. The best part is that there has been very little wind and the moisture has had a good chance to sink in. We have had a fairly warm spring and as I went to the mail box this morning I noticed that my tulips are now in full bloom. I guess one could say in this case that April showers bring April flowers. The grass is beginning to turn green and there is a brave leaf on one of the lilac limbs which did not get cut off during the big trim in December. I can only hope that the apple tree will hold up blossoming until the danger of frost is past. Last year it was in full bloom when a late frost came along and pretty much did in the apple crop for 2005.

I' ll bet that if you emailed me a picture of those flowers, I could get them on your blog for you. :)
Spring is alive in Oregon too. Our roses are getting set to have a fabulous summer of blooms. I haven't seen roses that looked this good this early before.
I don't have any wildflowers yet. It's still too cold. But all the rain we're getting means that we definitly will have to mow the lawn this spring. Some years we only have to mow once, this year it looks like maybe more. We depend on rain to water our yard, water's too scarce around here to waste on anything that isn't grazed or bailed.
