I woke up this morning to a rather strange sound. Turned out to be the blower on the furnace. It must have gotten quite cold last night. I typically set the thermostat at night to around 60 degrees, but because of insulated siding, double pane windows. etc. the house usually stays around 62-65 degrees.
I spent much of yesterday looking over stuff that has been laying around the house for years. Some of the gals from the Church are coming by this morning to begin preparations for a Garage Sale. I suspect that much of the clothing they will just tell me to take it to Goodwill or some other such agency. I have no intention of getting rid of the ceramics Betty spent a lot of time on, but there are the "bird houses" she was turned on to in recent years. They are big enough for real birds, they take up a lot of room, but her hand is clearly in the colors painted on them.
I got an e-mail this morning from a former collegue at Rocky Mountain College. He and his wife had moved back to New York State after retirement. She had suffered from polymyalgia and central vision loss for many years and recently died from two rather masssive strokes. I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that Betty did not suffer a long illness and that her passing was without apparent pain.
Well, the sun is bright and it seems that the day will be a lot warmer than it was last night. Duh!

I am so glad that Mom passed with only one real day of pain. I remember talking to her that afternoon and hearing something in her voice I had never heard before. When Will called me that evening to say that she had had a rough day, I remember telling him that she would not make it through the night. I made sure I took my cell phone with me to bed that night because I knew that the call would come that night. Thank God she was able to go without even days of pain let alone years of pain.
